In this chapter, we conceptualize the long term impacts of state-led spatial displacements and relocations on the conventional development trajectories of poor urban children, employing primary data from the Lyari Expressway Resettlement Program (LERP). We examine these impacts through three specific facets of children’s wellbeing: schoolscapes, playscapes, and socialscapes. We underscore the need to understand children and childhood as crucial components of the urban planning process and suggest directions for evidence based policymaking regarding the management of urban megaprojects, the compensation mechanisms for unavoidable residential demolitions, and socially sensitized planning agendas in case of relocation and resettlement of populations involving children.
