In this chapter, commercially available enzymes are discussed for biowaste management. Sources and applicationsApplications of laccases, chitinases, and cellulases are discussed briefly. Laccases are obtained from plants, bacteria, and fungi. These enzymes are used in agricultural residues, waste water treatment, biodegradation of dyes, xenobiotics, and pharmaceutical products. Chitin is present in arthropods, cell wall of fungi, nematodes, and in the shell of crab. Chitinases are used in shrimp waste treatment, sea shells waste treatment, plant diseases treatment, and also being used in the field of pharmaceutical. Cellulase is a multienzyme system that includes cellobiase, endoglucanases, and exoglucanases. In nature, a diverse range of microbes express cellulases. Cellulases are being used in the solid waste treatment, sewage and sludge water treatment, agricultural waste treatment, industrial waste treatment, and in the treatment of radioactive compounds.
