Legal language is formulaic and repetitive. Legal formulae, also referred to as lexical bundles or multi-words, were originally used in legal transactions and proceedings to ensure the effectiveness of the procedures followed and of the legal principles applied. Today, legal formulae are still common because they ensure the validity of the actions envisaged.
