Digitalization of engineering constitutes the basis of the 4th industrial revolution. Intelligent technologies are leveraged at various points of the product life cycle, notably during the design phase: in the process of the design documentation elaboration and approval to automate different tasks. Intelligent modules are embedded into CAD-systems and assist design documentation developers (DDDs) in a procedure of building models and specifications. In addition to different functions, these modules can conduct a preliminary automatic “approving”. However, these solutions are mainly centered around the very specific product under development and are not common. And consequently, for DDDs, the information support that employs intelligent technologies requires further elaboration. To deal with the problem, a method of the intelligent decision support, utilizing n-grams and concept cloud in comments of approving persons, for DDDs is suggested in the paper. The method was implemented in software and piloted on the comments on the design documentation for automated information systems.
