Aluminum Matrix Composites in the Aerospace Sector
摘要
Aluminum matrix composites (AMCs) have become essential for aerospace applications, offering a powerful combination of lightweight construction, improved thermal stability, and excellent mechanical properties. This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of how AMCs are used in various aerospace applications, covering their manufacturing techniques, structural design considerations, and performance benefits. It also explores the relationship between material composition, processing methods, and performance characteristics, explaining how combining aluminum matrices with reinforcing materials, such as titanium diboride (TiB2), boron carbide (B4C), carbon nanotubes (CNTs), alumina (Al2O3), or silicon carbide (SiC), can create composites with excellent strength-to-weight ratios and increased resistance to high temperatures.
