Researchers and social policymakers from across the globe are increasingly concerned about the accelerating numbers of older people in their societies despite public health concerns on COVID-19. In the Rishi Sunak administration in 2024 in the United Kingdom, there were concerns regarding the inadequacy of pension funds, the growing pressures on health systems, and the inability of shrinking numbers of younger people to carry the perceived burden of older people. This chapter focuses on mental health issues in United Kingdom, where older people have become a rapidly expanding proportion of the population.
