The fate of radioactivity in marine environments resulting from oil spills is a complex issue, and its transportation and management are very crucial. This chapter highlights the presence of Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) in crude oil and the potential environmental and health risks associated with spills. It emphasizes the importance of understanding the transport and management of these radioactive contaminants. The analysis examines the sources and behavior of radionuclides in oil spills, it identifies common radioactive elements present in oil, how they are released during spills, and factors influencing their transport and fate.
