This study aims to investigate how artificial intelligence can be integrated into Islamic religious practices. Specifically, it addresses a significant research gap in the literature by exploring how and to what extent artificial intelligence can be used to interpret Islamic texts, such as the Quran and Hadith, and what the associated ethical and practical implications of this usage are. Over time, artificial intelligence has evolved rapidly, and thus understanding its potential use in religious contexts has become more crucial to ensure it stays within Islamic values. A mixed-method research design was used in this study, which in- volved collecting data through interviewing Islamic scholars and experts in artificial intelligence using qualitative methods. The study’s quantitative part surveyed 500 Muslim respondents across diverse demographic categories. The quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, and the qualitative data collected by thematic analysis and integrated. The findings showed that 82% of the respondents the use of artificial intelligence could make religious interpretation concise, while 71% saw it as increasing ease of practice. Moreover, 74% of the participants found that obtaining personalized spiritual advice can be beneficial. On the other hand, 65% were concerned that it can misinterpret the texts, and 72% stated that they were concerned about the ethical implications. Comparing the data, it was found that the use of artificial intelligence-empowered tools can increase the accessibility of the knowledge by 15% over traditional methods. The study demonstrates that there is a significant potential of artificial intelligence to enhance the practice of Islam by granting broader access to knowledge and streamlining religious practice’s efficiency.
