The Circular Economy (CE) is emerging as a powerful strategy to address climate change and the current linear economic model of consumption, which consists of producing and consuming whatever is needed without considering the environmental impact. Both society and business must take action in this regard and evolve towards a new model based on sustainability and compliance with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This article focuses on the application of the CE within the Spanish automotive sector. The objective has been to analyse this sector and its transformation through the principles of circularity. A research methodology based on a survey is proposed to find out the situation through a panel of experts. After using the Principal Component Analysis (PCA), the results confirm the need for a transition in the sector. Certain shortcomings have been observed that will have to be managed for a full implementation of the CE.

摘要
