The development of effective quality management systems in public healthcare organizations requires the existence of specific technostructures. The purpose of this article is to provide, through an instrumental case study, those elements that allow establishing relationships between the creation of these specific technostructures and the progress in the processes of implementation and certification of formal quality systems in the management units of a public healthcare institution. The case study of the creation of a quality unit in the health management area of Osuna over a period of three years reveals a significant improvement in the standardization and normalization of the processes of the healthcare management units of the institution. This case study, on the one hand, allows this impact to be quantified through the evolution of the number of units involved in the certification processes. And on the other hand, a range of variables opens up that can be considered when studying this significance relationship.
