Can defect monitoring in wind turbines is critical in a sector constrained by deadlines and product quality. These structures need to comply with a significant number of constraints so that their product lifespan is optimal. Visual inspection of possible defects is one of the critical steps in this compliance process. Such inspection is often demanding due to the massive surface of the can, the spatial dispersion of the defects, and the lack of proper document management. The following article discusses a cloud-based solution tailored for this sector that has been tested in a case study. Its features are aimed for a seamless integration with operator workflow: from compatibility with industrial tablets to the inclusion of tools for agile review. The proposed built-in automatic defect detection algorithm outperforms proprietary defect detection solution. Operator feedback in the case study has been positive and features of the service have accelerated the pace in rutinary defect reviewing. Future work is aimed at generalizing the concept presented in this article in other sectors.

摘要
