The ISO 59000 family of standards for circular economy management aims to advance sustainable development goals. To investigate this relationship, a unique case study has been conducted to explore the nature of this relationship by analysing in depth the actions and outcomes achieved by a company for integrated water and wastewater management, particularly focusing on the sixth goal, which aims to “ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.” The findings indicate that the standard’s systematic approach has significantly supported progress towards the six targets within this Sustainable Development Goal, and to a lesser extent, towards other goals identified by ISO: 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, and 13. Thus, it is confirmed that promoting the adoption of such management tools by public decision-makers and business organisations can indeed advance the UN 2030 sustainability agenda.
