During the last decade, Spanish public universities have been equipped with multiple in-person and digital services to offer a high quality service to students and improve their experience on campus. However, given this increase in variety in the services catalogue, students need help to answer their doubts and requests and may even obtain unrelated information. This need to receive consistent information is even more critical for first-year undergraduate students since the discovery of the environment is complex. This paper aims to introduce a conceptual design for a chatbot-based advising system to support first-year students in the Bachelor of Engineering in “Industrial Technologies” (GITI) at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). This system aims to address the increasing faculty-student ratio imbalance and enhance the distribution of educational resources to provide students with tailored academic and general guidance, including assessment details, subject leader information, tutorial schedules, and practical information such as classroom locations and exam dates to maximise satisfaction levels.
