Food banks play a crucial role in addressing global food insecurity, distributing donations to vulnerable families via food baskets. However, ensuring nutritional adequacy, diversity, and equitable allocation remains challenging. This study proposes a multi-objective linear program to optimise these food baskets, considering nutritional coverage, product variety, and equity. Our model demonstrates significant improvements over the baseline solution when applied to a Catalan food bank case study.

摘要

Food banks play a crucial role in addressing global food insecurity, distributing donations to vulnerable families via food baskets. However, ensuring nutritional adequacy, diversity, and equitable allocation remains challenging. This study proposes a multi-objective linear program to optimise these food baskets, considering nutritional coverage, product variety, and equity. Our model demonstrates significant improvements over the baseline solution when applied to a Catalan food bank case study.
