The landscape of last-mile delivery is undergoing a significant transformation in Europe, driven by the integration of drone technology. This paper examines the current adoption and impact of drones in addressing the challenges associated with last-mile delivery services across European countries through a qualitative analysis of relevant case studies. By analysing technological advancements, regulatory frameworks, and operational case studies, we provide an in-depth review of how drones are enhancing delivery efficiency, reducing operational costs, and minimising environmental footprints. Despite promising benefits, the article also addresses the limitations and societal concerns surrounding drone deliveries, such as privacy, safety, and regulatory compliance. Through a synthesis of recent pilot programmes and commercial applications, we offer information on the future prospects of drone delivery systems, including technological innovations and policy recommendations for stakeholders. This comprehensive analysis aims to contribute to the strategic discourse on leveraging drone technology to improve last-mile delivery services, marking a step towards a more sustainable and efficient logistics infrastructure in Europe.
