Time, a profound expression of individual and collective cultural identity, is presented here as a key concept in Environmental Design.After illustrating the connection of Time with the processual and objectual spheres, the distinction between linear and circular Time is introduced, with its implications for the relationship between permanence and temporality and between Chronological Time (which stratifies and destroys) and Kairotic Time (which seizes opportunities and expresses ethical values).The artificial wings invented by the mythical architect Daedalus to escape from the Labyrinth are proposed as an emblem to show that every technology has to face an appropriate time and within precise limits.
