When performing a measurement, there will be two possible situations when declaring conformity: First, a correct decision is made regarding conformity with the specification; Second, an incorrect decision is made regarding conformity with the specification. This chapter presents the basic concepts for a conformity assessment based on the uncertainty of measurement obtained and a statement of conformity in a decision rule adopted. Three reference documents were used for the elaboration of this chapter:
