As an Afro-Dominican-American, I share my educational and career experiences and aspirations. I examine how my immigration experience impacted my educational trajectory. In this chapter, I discuss how I integrated my ethnic identity in my teaching and connected with my students to inspire them to achieve academic success in college and thrive in the world. I share personal narratives which facilitated the resilience process and discuss my experiences as an Afro-Dominican faculty member.
