The immigration process is a transformative process. In this chapter, I share insight into what is like to undergo a transformative experience. I use my personal experience as an Afro-Dominican male, as well as the immigratory experience of my co-participants, which, although different in some ways, are also very similar. I incorporated the American culture while at the same time maintaining my Dominican identity. My co-participants also have a similar experience. I provide recommendations for assisting other immigrants to become resilient and how to adapt to the host society.
