From Conventional Planar Lymphoscintigraphy to Hybrid Imaging Lymphoscintigraphy to Assess the Lymphatic System
摘要
As a safe, non-invasive, and physiological method, radionuclide lymphoscintigraphy (RNL) belongs to molecular imaging and generates images reflecting the lymphatic system function with a good correlation to X-ray lymphangiography, which has been the gold standard until the sixties. For 50 years, images obtained with RNL still have a poor resolution as compared to the anatomical detail and spatial resolution obtained with computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Progress has come from the development of new compounds, new detectors, and new software that has resulted in new tracers and new devices.
