The research outlines the main trends in developing and optimizing environmental education practices in contemporary Russia. The research is based on empirical data obtained during the sociological studies, including open-source analysis, expert survey, and in-depth interviews. The research objects were teachers and administrative staff working in institutions implementing environmental education. As of 2023, the state of environmental education and the generation of personnel suitable for a sustainable development economy can be assessed as satisfactory. This field is characterized by a high degree of resource differentiation. It is found that inequality in resources coupled with the lack of a common methodology and approaches to training leads to significant differentiation of quality and, consequently, reduces the quality of the educational product. ESG transformation of the global economy and accompanying practices of environmental education are considered relevant and in demand. However, they are rarely the focus of sociologists. The uniqueness of this research lies in the almost complete representation of institutions engaged in environmental education; the problems identified are of scientific and public importance. The attempt to identify the key issues of environmental education “from the inside” has not been previously attempted in the sociology of management and may become the foundation for further scientific research.

摘要
