This chapter provides an overview of the state and structure of boreal forests in Mongolia and examines important pressures on the country’s forest ecosystem along with related issues concerning habitat connectivity. Following an overview of conservation areas in Mongolia, we detail the role of Khonin Nuga Research Station as a best practice example for ecological research and sustainable resource management.
