This chapter is designed to address the daunting task of journalists covering security agencies where secrecy is paramount and the journalistic ethos of source protection expected of the media ought to be adhered to. It brings to the front burner the intersecting conflicts between news media coverage of security agencies and the onerous responsibility entrusted on journalists to protect and shield their sources of news in the field. The chapter highlights scenarios of journalists who specialised in covering security agencies found themselves. Methodologically, the chapter utilised in-depth individual interviews with five selected journalists from print and broadcast media who cover different security agencies. It found that journalists often face harassment and torture from security agents. Findings further reveal the refusal of the security agencies to comment on issues as a challenge affecting the coverage of security agencies. The chapter concludes that journalists who report to security agencies have aided in the mutual suspicion and misunderstanding of the security-journalist relationship.
