This chapter focuses on two comedies that were the most popular films in Moroccan cinema in the decade starting in1993—Looking for My Wife’s Husband (Muhammad Abderrahman Tazi, 1993) and She Is Diabetic and Has Hypertension and Refuses to Die (Hakim Noury, 2000). Following a short introduction to some characteristics of humor, I present the words of each filmmaker answering my questions with regard to various aspects of these films, and then discuss the kinds of humor each of these films expresses, the relationship between humor and anthropology, and the future prospects for Moroccan cinema.
