In this chapter, Louis Klee and Ananya Mishra explore how Fogarty’s solidarity with Dalit and Adivasi struggles animates and unifies the poems of Harvest Lingo (2022). Klee and Mishra recontextualise Fogarty’s poetry against the poet’s travels in India to provide a rigorous analysis of how the semantic category of ‘the poor’ functions in the collection and its meaning for a poetics of solidarity between Dalit, Adivasi, and First Nations peoples. In foregrounding the question of language and translation, they offer a close reading of Fogarty’s language poem “Palya Palya Dha.”
