Identification and Analysis of Black Spots on NH-353D (Nagpur-Armouri Highway)
摘要
Nowadays, accidents become a major cause of death. The main root cause of accidents is the increase in congestion on the roads. According to an examination of road accident statistics from 2020, there are 42 accidents and the deaths of 15 people each hour on Indian roads, for a daily average of 1003 accidents and 360 fatalities. Attention must be paid to the fact that more than 56 percent of accidents and more than 61 percent of deaths occurred on highways, which make up around 5% of the nation's overall road network. This paper is based on a thorough investigation of black spots and traffic safety. A sizable portion of these incidents occurs on national highways, which has severely stunted economic growth and caused enormous losses. The primary purpose of this study is to locate dark spots and conduct in-depth research for evaluation and correction. The strategies and procedures utilized for selecting the project study spots (where a large number of accidents happened), collecting accident data, dividing the data for better observation, analyzing black spots, and suggesting mitigation measures are all included in this research. This work describes how to identify black spots by applying the Weighted Severity Index (WSI). This study concludes the rectification methods according to short-term, long-term, reduction, or improvement of the geometric layout as determined by existing road situations.
