In a lot of the nation’s major metropolitan area, gridlocked traffic is becoming a significant problem. This serious issue of congestion on the roadways has been caused by the unpredictable failure of traffic lights, subpar law enforcement, and inadequate transportation planning. A novel approach utilizing RFID and Arduino has been developed to deal with the crucial problem of vehicle and time congestion at traffic lights. Currently, emergency vehicles are stuck in gridlock because of the blockage. This rush hour causes human casualties because the EMV cannot get to the destination in time. This study has improved an innovative concept to traffic management by employing the order of priority of the vehicles to circumvent it. In this approach, emergency vehicles like ambulances are given priority so they can get to their destination on time and reduce travel time. The suggested system is made to receive data regarding any emergencies, including ambulances, by using RF identification technology. We are utilizing RFID technology and one Arduino for implementation. For such emergencies, the technology has the capability of opening a whole lane. This project’s primary goal is to provide an innovative way of tracking and controlling traffic congestion on roadways and emergency service vehicles. The most suitable spots for radio frequency readers have been selected so that the reader can read the radio frequency tags on ambulances easily. When the EV arrives, the specific approach signal will change from green to blue. As a result of the current traffic system’s shortcomings, it reduces traveling duration and conserves thousands of lives. The present traffic system will be strengthened by this project. Corrective actions are taken and applied in our system to regulate traffic.
