Manducare vobiscum: Liturgical Formation for Participation
摘要
The liturgical reforms have been well received by the majority of Catholics, yet the principles which should guide practice remain poorly understood and integrated. As many opine the lack of good liturgical formation in seminaries and parishes from which poor practices emerge, Pope FrancisFrancis, Pope’ letter Desiderio Desideravi provides a welcome invitation to approach this issue from a different starting point. The principles in Sacrosanctum Concilium seek to heal centuries old dislocations of the people from their rightful place as fully active and conscious participants in the Liturgy; these are explored in this essay, and a different approach to preparing childrenChildren for their first EucharistEucharist is proposed so that childrenChildren and their accompanying adults may be liturgically formed in a way that teaches the reform principles, and inculcates the leaven for a change of the common mindset.
