Hypertension is an ever-increasing risk factor for premature death, mainly in areas with meager healthcare resources or access. In Peru, more than 5.5 million individuals aged 15 and older suffer from arterial hypertension, with Loreto having the second-highest prevalence of the condition. Rural expanses in areas like Loreto pose significant challenges for data transmission and patient adherence to treatment. This work introduces Pressure Pro, a monitoring prototype that integrates medical-grade sensors and wireless connectivity to track blood pressure and oxygen saturation in populations over 45 years old in rural Loreto. Its design prioritizes functionality and effectiveness, while still ensuring ease of use and portability. By leveraging existing 3G networks, it provides patients with access to essential healthcare services, overcoming geographical barriers. Our biomedical metrology results demonstrate that the device meets all regulatory requirements in Peru, establishing it as a reliable and effective tool for ambulatory monitoring. With the potential to significantly enhance hypertension management, this is one more illustration of the transformative power that telehealth innovations have held regarding health care delivery around the world.
