Assessing static balance in people may prevent falls, improve sports performance, and could help in the diagnosing balance-related conditions, and may be used for motor rehabilitation. Current technics to evaluate imbalance in patients are usually subjective. Balance Detector is device proposed to be an easily accessible tool to objectively detect static balance in real time. It consists of a vest with inertial sensors and measures the degree of inclination of a seated person’s shoulders while displaying the data on a web page in real time. It was designed to be used with the application of the Tinetti Scale for balance measurement, thus consists of four phases: seated without backrest, seated with backrest, balance recovery and standing up and seating down. The operation of the device was tested with a total of 8 people inside and outside CRISVER. The results obtained were satisfactory in fulfilling the device’s purpose of being a tool that presents information in an accessible manner to the user and maintains objectivity in the evaluation of balance.
