Evaluation of Balance During Gait Using the Tinetti Scale

This paper presents a quantitative analysis of balance during gait using the Tinetti scale. The primary objective is to provide a reliable method for assessing gait and balance, enhancing the accuracy of fall risk assessments. The methodology employs Kinovea software to measure movement angles and observe the displacement of specific body points. Markers were strategically placed on participants aged 13 to 58, and their gait was recorded and analyzed. The results demonstrated significant correlations between step length, knee flexion, and step velocity, offering detailed insights into gait parameters. Additionally, the results indicated potential fall risks according to the Tinetti scale that therapists did not visually detect. This study contributes to the field by presenting an accessible, precise, and practical approach to gait analysis, suitable for various clinical settings.
