摘要
We should expect digital technologies that are ever advancing in speed, expanding in scale, and increasing in scope to demonstrate new and more powerful ways to effect human downgrading. Digital distancing will have to respond in kind, becoming an adaptive art. There are important technical challenges that must be addressed to make AI and digital platforms safe. Still, human downgrading is fundamentally a cultural problem grounded in the erosion of crucial dispositions, habits, and skills. There is no viable alternative to the task of cultivating our capacities for self-leadership and service.
