Dynamic centrality measures are important for recognizing how different brain areas coordinate over time to support various cognitive functions. Conventional centrality metrics focusing on specific nodes have limitations when capturing the complex and ever-changing connections between groups of interconnected regions. In this chapter, we introduce a novel approach for evaluating dynamic centrality from the perspective of node bunches, which are clusters of functionally or structurally connected brain areas within the brain network. By moving from single-node centrality to group-level analysis we present a more comprehensive view of how brain modules interact and influence information across various cognitive states. Our analysis’s findings show that node bunch centrality can capture more nuanced changes in the organization of brain networks, providing a promising new way to think about how diseases develop as well as how healthy brains function.
