This chapter is a literature review on the concept of pedagogical love, bringing a synthesis of research about this construct and how it is being investigated in language teacher educationLanguage teacher education. LoveLove is an essential emotionEmotion in language teachingLanguage teaching. Several researchers have mentioned its importance in education settingsEducation settings to create passionate, lifelong learners and teachers that can deal with emotionally stressful situationsEmotionally stressful situations in their practice. Despite its importance, it has not been the focus of research with Applied LinguisticsApplied Linguistics, with a few exceptions. In this meta synthesis, the concept of pedagogical love is analysed, both in education as well as in Applied Linguistics, reviewing recent studies that have been published in language teachingLanguage teaching and educationLanguage teaching and education. The chapter concludes with interpretation of the different findings from the studies, their implications for language teachingLanguage teaching and learning as well as a suggestion for a tentative agenda for the research on pedagogical love in language teachingLanguage teaching, language learningLanguage learning and language teacher educationLanguage teacher education.
