Many different types of crops and ornamental plants are seriously threatened by the soil-borne bacterium Ralstonia solanacearum. Important crops for the economy include potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, bananas, tobacco, roses, etc. Given that it may cause bacterial wilt disease and infect a wide variety of plant species, it is an emerging enemy for both the horticultural and agricultural industries. This phytopathogen is particularly sneaky because of its capacity to linger in soil. It infects plants through the root, resulting in a systemic infection that can cause severe wilting and eventually death. Not only that, but researchers frequently report discovering new hosts, and the host range of diseases expands yearly. This chapter’s primary goal is to provide an overview of this dangerous bacterial phytopathogen as a new danger.
