During the last decade, the issues of climate change, global vulnerability regarding the resource supply and socioeconomic uncertainties have transferred from speculations about the future development to very tangible present. This means that the focus is shifting, from raising awareness and formulating general directions, to more direct and immediate actions. In building sector, such actions demand both shift in design approach and technology in order to provide sustainable solutions for new and existing buildings alike.
