Basin Women’s Forum of Tajik part of Syr-Darya River. Strengthening Women’s Leadership in Water Management
摘要
In this chapter, we explore the impact of collaborative network involvement on women empowerment in the work of the Basin Women Forum of Syr Darya River in Tajikistan. The Forum fosters women’s participation in water management at all decision-making levels while adopting multistakeholder networks as the core impact mechanism. We examined how distinctive features of networks facilitated women’s leadership capacity acquisition and their empowerment as water users, experts, and decision-makers. We applied theoretical lenses of social learning and leadership networking to share our insights into how the Forum strengthened shared understanding of inclusive water management.
