Either conventional techniques like clonal selectionClonal selection and polyploid breedingBreeding, or molecular techniques like bioinformatics and molecular markerMolecular markers-assisted breedingBreeding, or tissue cultureTissue culture through organogenesisOrganogenesis, can be used to improve the situation. All the methods are done to yield a higher amount of efficient turmeric rhizomesRhizome. Currently, there are approximately 20 improved varieties of turmeric. Tissue cultureTissue culture methodologies are currently used for improving the varieties with consistent success and cultivationCultivation. It includes direct and indirect organogenesisOrganogenesis, preparation of synthetic encapsulated seeds for diseaseDiseases prevention. Other methods that are being tested out are mutational breedingBreeding using physical and chemical mutagensChemical Mutagen, and hybridizationHybridization of better varieties to yield efficient varieties. Even though genetic engineeringGenetic engineering efforts are made to improve crop sustainability in the upcoming environment, getting approval for cultivationCultivation takes time.
