Appropriate Governance Approaches in Waterfront Regeneration
摘要
The establishment of effective governance models and funding arrangements is vital for the successful regeneration of port cities. This chapter underscores the necessity of a new paradigm that integrates public and private sector collaboration to address the unique challenges of waterfront regeneration. Engaging diverse stakeholders, including government entities, civil society, and local businesses, is essential for ensuring that regeneration efforts are inclusive and widely supported. The governance structure should facilitate cooperation between port authorities and municipalities while adapting to local contexts and stakeholder dynamics. Various governance models, such as public–private partnerships and specialized agencies, are explored to enhance the effectiveness of regeneration processes. Ultimately, strong public leadership and strategic funding mechanisms are crucial for catalysing change, managing stakeholder interests, and ensuring sustainable urban development.
