Assessment of the Geometrical Condition of the Tram Track with the Use of Selected Survey Methods

Evaluation of the geometric condition of the tram track is performed according to train instruction Id-14 “Instruction for measuring, testing and assessing the condition of the tracks” developed by PKP PLK S.A.. Hence, it corresponds to the requirements for railroad tracks. The experiment and measurement works were carried out in cooperation with MPK Wrocław (Urban Transport Company) on the section of the tram track at Mickiewicza Street in Wroclaw, Poland. This part of the track was excluded from the planned traffic due to bad conditions. The following survey techniques were used to compare and assess the geometric state: the LTrack electronic track gauge, tachymetric with a specialised adapter with a prism and terrestrial laser scanning. In addition, the geometric condition of the track was evaluated using the J and W5 indicators.
