The neck is bounded superiorly by the lower margin of the mandible and posteriorly by a line passing through the angle of the mandible—the mastoid process—and going to the external occipital protuberance. Inferiorly, it is bounded anteriorly by the two clavicles and the jugular incisura, posteriorly by the seventh cervical vertebra (C7), and laterally by the acromion. It is possible to distinguish three anatomical regions:
