Role of Industry 4.0 in the Future Circular Supply Chain Management
摘要
The integration of Industry 4.0 (I4.0) with the circular economy (CE) presents significant opportunities for creating sustainable, resource-efficient supply chains. I4.0, powered by technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, artificial intelligence, robotics, and additive manufacturing, enhances operational efficiency, enabling businesses to manage resource use dynamically, reduce waste, and extend product life cycles. The circular economy aims to minimize environmental impact by promoting restorative processes, eliminating waste, and reducing reliance on finite resources. By combining I4.0 with CE, industries can transform traditional linear supply chains into circular systems where materials and resources are continuously reused and regenerated. This paper explores how emerging I4.0 technologies drive the circular economy by enhancing transparency, optimizing production, and enabling predictive maintenance. While the benefits of this convergence are promising, the paper also addresses the challenges of implementation, including financial investment, workforce skills gaps, and technological infrastructure. Ultimately, the integration of I4.0 with CE holds the potential to revolutionize future supply chains, aligning them with sustainability goals.
