Acoustic Analysis of Violins
摘要
This chapter is dedicated to the description of the acoustic signatureAcoustic signature of a violin and ways of obtaining it. Two methods are presented, a classical method, the impact hammerImpact hammer method (IH) method and a new method proposed by us based on the statistical analysis of the amplitudesAmplitude of the spectralSpectral power of the violin sound using higher order statistical parameter Kurtosis. The basic idea of applying the statistical parameter Spectral KurtosisSpectral Kurtosis (SK) is that the sound of the violin generates transients placed in the spectrumSpectrum domain of the acoustic signature. An examination of the arrangement of the SK estimate maxima in the SK spectrum indicates a very good correlation with the architecture of the normal modes in the acoustic signature spectrum of a violin therefore, starting from the statistic analysis of the sound of violin we can discover its acoustic signature.
