Resonance Norway spruce (Picea abies) is a unique and remarkable tree biotype in Romanian Carpathians which is very famous for the exceptional quality of its timber mainly used as raw material for violins blanks and other musical instruments soundboards. The stress wave method was applied to standing trees to determine some acoustic features. It drew out the resonance trees phenotype by checking the biometric and qualitative characteristics of the steam against some physical and acoustical parameters of standing timber.
