Introduction: Patients hospitalized with COVID-19 experience isolation, which contributes to their feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and fear. The present study aims to evaluate the outcomes of the strength-based CBT psychological intervention on patients hospitalized for COVID-19. The intervention consists of 8 online psychotherapy sessions carried out during the patients’ hospitalization within the Pneumology Operating Unit. This intervention aims to reduce psychic symptomatology and to co-construct a personal model of resilience. Methods: 7 hospitalized patients with COVID-19 who did not require intubation, 3 males and 4 females with long hospital stays were enrolled. Distress caused by traumatic events was assessed by Impact of Event Scale-Revised (IES- R), while the Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation - Outcome Measure (CORE-OM) was used to evaluate the effectiveness of Strength Based CBT psychological intervention. Data were collected at the beginning of treatment (T0), at the end of treatment (T1), and at follow-up 6 months after the end (T2). The data were analyzed by ANOVA. Results: Statistical analysis conducted shows a statistically significant decrease for posttraumatic symptoms (0.057) assessed by IES-R, specifically for hyperarousal reaction (0.0346) at T1 and T2. In addition, improvements are shown in the analyses conducted for the assessment of effectiveness of psycho-logical intervention as measured by CORE-OM. Conclusions003A Although the sample size is a limitation of our study, it incentivizes us to use a strengths-based online CBT psychotherapy intervention for hospitalized patients with COVID-19, confirming the importance of psychological treatment to reduce the risk of developing PTSD in the most vulnerable patients.
