The basic terminology and methods for designing type-3 fuzzyType-3 fuzzy setsFuzzy sets, membership functionsMembership function, inference and fuzzy systems for medical diagnosis have been outlined in this book (Castillo et al. in Interval Type-3 Fuzzy Systems: Theory and Design, Springer, Cham, Switzerland, 2022). In addition, fractal theory (FT) concepts, such as the fractal dimensionFractal dimension (FD) and Hurst exponents, have been outlined and applied to medical diagnosis. So, for the case of designing type-3 fuzzy-fractal systems, the problem is more complicated due to the higher number of parameters to consider, and we have involved the utilization of nature-inspired optimization techniques for this problem (Castillo and Melin in Mathematics 10, 4091, 2022).
