The current chapter constitutes the second part of the results of the inductive analysisInductive analysis. Whereas the previous chapter covered the underlying principles and contextual application as well as codes related to impoliteness, in the current chapter we turn our attentionAttention specifically to the ways in which participants reported that politeness was expressed. Since these modes of politeness expression cover morpholexical, vocal and embodied aspects, this chapter focuses specifically on the metapragmaticMetapragmatics awareness that our participants possessed of politeness as a multimodal phenomenon. These different modalities are all sorted under one overriding one Level Three theoretical category which we refer to as: performing embodied attitudeEmbodied attitude.
