Green Economy in the Republic of Azerbaijan: Prerequisites and Directions of Development

The main goal of writing the article is to emphasize the importance of the transition to the “green economy” formed under the influence of the 4C industrial revolution of economic development in our country and justify the advantages it creates for our national economy. Today it is becoming increasingly clear that the main concept of the future in the twenty-first century is sustainable development. The need for a transition to sustainable development in the world is largely related to the awareness of the critical aggravation of the disproportion between economic development and environmental degradation. In order to achieve continuous and stable economic development in modern times, a new strategy of economic development has been adopted in our country, the basis of which is the adopted programs related to the transition of our country to the “green economy”. These programs are reflected in Azerbaijan’s “2022–2026 socio-economic development strategy”, “Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for socio-economic development” program, UN “Transformation of our world: sustainable development agenda until 2030”. In this sense, the green economy is the basis of sustainable development. A feature of the “green economy” and the new industrial revolution is the use of innovation and, as a result, the achievement of sustainable development. population, careful and rational use of natural resources in the interests of present and future generations. This study analyzed the directions for ensuring the protection of sustainable economic development of Azerbaijan. As a result, the economic adjustments necessary to improve the current situation were given by the authors in the form of proposals.
