Exploring Trust Levels Between Universities and Government Institutions: A Fuzzy Logic Approach

Trust is a fundamental aspect of the relationship between universities and governmental institutions, crucial for fostering collaboration and progress. This article investigates the levels of trust perceived by managers and academic staff members within this dynamic environment. Surveys reveal a significant proportion of respondents expressing high levels of trust, with a substantial fraction considering it at a middle level, and notable percentages perceiving it as very high. To quantitatively analyze these perceptions, a fuzzy logic framework is employed, offering a systematic approach to understanding trust dynamics. By integrating multiple perspectives and employing Gaussian membership functions and fuzzy rules, this study captures the complexity of trust perception and determines the overall level of trust between universities and governmental institutions. Our findings underscore the critical role of trust in shaping effective partnerships and fostering progress in university-government collaborations. The adoption of a fuzzy logic approach not only enhances our understanding of trust dynamics but also offers practical insights for policymakers and academic leaders to strengthen relationships and promote mutual trust. This study contributes to the ongoing discourse on trust within the university-government nexus and provides a methodological lens for future research in this area.
