Ecology in the Context of Contemporary Art and Design

In order to avoid an environmental disaster, the world community is trying to attract public attention to this subject in different parts of the world. At the same time artists and creative agencies participate in this process. The theme of eco-art and land art can cover a wide range of issues related to the environment. Each piece of eco-art can express the importance of caring for nature. Artists around the world, including Azerbaijan, have helped popularize a more positive relationship between the audience and nature, which is especially necessary in an era of rapid development of urban environments. In Azerbaijan, eco-art plays an important role to create awareness and motivation to act in relation to the interests of nature and future generations. It allows artists and viewers to see the world from a new perspective, think about the importance of caring for the environment, and be inspired to find solutions to environmental problems. Design is the most popular kind of Art in the modern world and its influence cannot be avoided. It combines spiritual and material culture, which have a great socio-cultural role. Environmental design guidance emphasizes design’s educational, value-oriented (axiological) and adaptive functions. Ecological design mainly helps form a caring attitude towards the environment, saves resources, strives for the sustainability of things that surround a person, and creates safe and favorable conditions for a person’s physical and mental health. Ecological design includes a holistic approach to designing any objects related to human activity, from the miniature objects we use daily to the design of entire buildings, cities and landscapes.
